Spirits of Hope (Sestina) by Andrew Scott
There are spirits of hope
in this world of the demented.
A place where there is misplaced power
given to the unworthy tyrant.
The one that takes away sanctuary
from those that need healing.
The scars do need healing
by the aura of hope
and held in safe sanctuary
away from the evil and demented.
The abusive, hidden tyrant
that strikes with given power.
Confused at who has the power
and who has the hand of healing.
Who is the friend or evil tyrant?
Who is holding true hope?
The propaganda of the demented
closes the doors of the sanctuary.
Deceit holds the doors of sanctuary
and we are to blame for that power.
So blind to that smile of the demented
that have no intention for healing.
Just burying the hope
that was handed to the tyrant.
promises made by the war tyrant
began when we handed over our sanctuary.
Believing in the world of hope
that was to make equal power
and the famined weak could start healing
from the previously demented.
The protectors from the demented
are showing the signs of a tyrant.
How does the promise of healing
turn back to a closed sanctuary?
Kneel and pray for another power
given by the Spirit of Hope.
