How Quickly by John D Robinson

How quickly we
became strangers,
creating a distance,
a no-man’s land,
years between us
seem to hold
nothing for you,
the laughter, pain,
the drink and drug
binges, the highs
and lows: those
soft and tender
friendship times,
years of trust,
respect and
admiration,
fleeing like a
sudden hail-storm
leaving behind
in its wake,
an unfamiliar scene,
absent of a
loved one.
