“Pineapple Face” by Ryan Quinn Flanagan

They called him “Pineapple Face” which doesn’t seem very nice.
Dressed effigies in military garb outside the presidential palace.
All with pineapples for heads.

And there were a lot of pineapples.
This was Latin America.
A hundred thousand people all chanting
“Pineapple Face” at the presidential
palace.

It was a very strange time
in the country’s history.

Sales of pineapples
at an all time
high.
