The Graveyard Road by Andrew Scott
The Graveyard Road
In Upper Derby, by Highway 8,
they found her, murdered,
hidden in a hockey bag,
shoved off to the side of the dirt road.
Found in horror by hunters,
Candace’s life taken by an act of a madman
in the angry resting place
of the Graveyard Road.
A wooden area, just outside the city,
Sabrina lay to eternal sleep.
Life taken by an abuser that she knew.
Beaten and hidden to not be found
by those who loved and searched
through the trails and trees
shielding this Graveyard Road.
Hunters searching for their seasonal prey
off the roads in Mount Uniache
finds the remains of a missing man.
Daren lost for months, now found.
Life taken and then dumped
in the middle of no man’s land
being absorbed in the Graveyard Road.
The souls are felt all around
the old lumber roads
where bodies have not been found.
Lost to their loved ones
looking for a form of closure
that may never be found,
buried in the Graveyard Road.
