A New Age by Gary Beck

Terror has become normal
ingrained in people everywhere,
reinforced by the media
thirsting for disaster
to titillate audiences
by relieving suffering
as long as it’s someone elses.
If it comes too close
to the vicarious
the thrill is gone.
