Only Mustard by Mitchell Krockmalnik Grabois

Jane’s Yellow Mustard
is organic
not poor white trash mustard
like French’s

My daughter-in-law gave me the French’s
I joked with her that it was poor white trash mustard
She didn’t mind one bit because she cannot be poor white trash
She is Hispanic
of Mexican descent
Her family has been here for generations
She has a wonderful, sweet disposition

And then she gave me the Jane’s Mustard
I told her she could take the French’s back
in return
French’s is not organic
just plain old poor white trash
but she didn’t want it

The Jane’s mustard container
is as yellow as the French’s
and says: Your dogs will love it
with a picture of a hot dog

which I thought was a marketing mistake
because it is
organic mustard
and hot dogs are gross
You never know what they put in hot dogs
all kind of horrible pork bi-products

But I don’t care enough to contact
Jane’s company
and offer my input
my valued customer feedback
Shit, it’s only mustard
