The Scary by Charles Kell

is what he told
me would one
day happen.

The moment—either
weeks or months
from now—when

I would be sitting,
standing, or pacing
in my cell & the walls

would begin to close
in. Either at night
or morning. When

I would be locked
in for hours. No shower,
phone, or food for

a long time. Just walls,
alone. The window. Out-
side I see a tree, six

leaves, barbed wire.
My pale reflection, here
and gone, torn in two.
