Celebrations by Gary Beck

celebrations

City holidays
are celebrated differently
from country holidays.
You don’t have to drive too far,
public transportation, walking,
gets you almost everywhere,
but urban hazards abound
making revelers wary,
except New Year’s Eve,
when they congest together
amply protected by police,
pickpockets and terrorists
the primary threats,
and most revelers
don’t worry,
blindly believing
in public safety.
