At dawn, you break from me,
like the sky from sea
when the sun’s aura
tips over the balcony
of the horizon

We crawl out of the deep
in which we swam
against each other,
venturing into fantasies
of reverie,
a sea of delta waves

Having closed our eyes
together, knowing
it was safe
to drop defences,
expose the vulnerability of
our soft underbellies –

Participating in
the greatest intimacy
of all.
