Fissure

Fissure

You left the San Andréas fault in me
though it was never my fault
or my responsibility
now I need to
realign
redesign
redefine
and resign myself
to this
great change
rearrange
seems so strange
I’m full of
edges
ledges
cracks and splits
and mosaic bits;
Perhaps the Canyon
or the Great Divide
cut up inside
no place to hide
both sides apart
losing heart
I’ll never be
a work of art –
it was such a
vicious fissure
under pressure.
