Kinuginu or “the morning after” tanka

my heart is full of
memories of our meeting
untold bygone tales
we could tell, if it wasn’t for
cock’s crow that stole you from me

Kinuginu or “the morning after” tanka

Adieu dear moonlight
I resign to rising sun
It must ride through sky
Before my love returns with
Sweet kisses to my embrace

To brim with love fill
Pour yourself into my heart
Until all cracks mend
A kintsugi in making
Thirst roused is thirst fulfilled
