Mountains~ by Lorraine Walker

Oh my, it’s been an understanding.
Falling in love with the mountains
I waited a lifetime to see.
Physically powerful, unwavering, and silent,
Odd in the company of outspokenness
Yet breathtaking in attractiveness
Come suffer the comprehension
Of loving a dominant landscape
That can’t love you back.
Steadfast in it’s place of belonging
Unwilling to follow or lead
Speaking soundlessly to every glance
Disinclined to ask or answer.
Oh my, it’s been an agreement
Falling in love with the me
I waited a lifetime to see.
Intellectually powerful, steady, and quiet
Funny in the company of friends
Yet stunning in acceptance
Come enjoy the comprehension
Of loving a lonely woman
That can love you back.
Firm in positive beliefs
Searching for optimistic people
And encouraging struggles
Blunt yet noiseless in confidence
Waited a lifetime to see.
What these mountains taught me.
