Scattered~ by Neil Chatterton

Word Scramble 5- Scattered~ by Neil Chatterton

Haunted visions
Consume me
Your golden hair and smile
I can almost
Touch.

Reaching
Through this mirror
My eternal wish
Seems so close.

Emotions
Like wildfire
Rampant
A wish
My reward
Or, feckless dreams
These shallow thoughts
Hold no value
For you.

I remain invisible
Deferring
As your purity
Unbowed
Untouched.

This scream
Released
Watching from inside this loft
For grafted onto you
Is not you
Your supple body
Replaced by
Rotting flesh.

Color drains from me
Nothing but a pallid husk
My love for you
Once luminescent
Now unrequited.

Slumped shoulders
Unmoved
Even by

Your calumny whispers.
Me,
Once balanced
Us,
Always rejoicing, celebrating
Like magnums

Popping
Soaking skins
Our tongues
Hungrily feed
On the other.

Now
Like a dried up leaf
Battered
Broken
And scattered
By the winds
Of change.
