If Only
by Janaki Nagaraj
They are slipping
Right through my grasp
Like loose sand..
The more I try
More futile it is…
They fall and shatter
Scatter like
Million pieces of diamonds
Each one so precious.
Some gets sucked
By the earth
Like lovers’ thirst
Some roll away
Gleaming
Like morning dew
Sparkling brilliance
Reflecting a world
That was.
Wanna pick each one
String them together
And wear around my neck
With pride
If only
I could pick them!
