Window of a Soul

by Neil Chatterton

Eyes now
Blank
Staring
Seen too much
Where is the sparkle
That set the world on fire!

Do you ever ponder
While walking this busy street
Hearing laughter and chatter
Remembering how it was.

Facing each other
Separated by a cross walk
Our turns comes
We walk
Eyes smile
Time stops
As you
Bare all
Unload that burden
That has been an unwelcome companion
For so long

I feel you exhale
And as we pass
I want to
Reach out
Say something
Tell you that
Happiness
Laughter
And Love
Are waiting around the next corner.
But the jostling crowd
Dictates each path
For a split second
I turn against the tide
But there is nothing
To see
To say
To do
As destiny guides you.
