Smiling Eyes part I

by Ron Reed

Close your smiling eyes
breath deep the evening air
The leaves have changed costume
to red and yellow autumn fare
Summer teases with an encore
and the shadows are at play
The trees, against a dusk blue sky
dance in an off hand way
This solstice season has come
bringing our paths crossed
Life’s stories shared in walks
through autumn evening frost

The chill forsaken by your presence

Dare that I might meet the test
to shed the weight
from on my breast
and oh so timidly reveal
a love, infant in kind
that you might know the things I feel
Your voice colors all you speak
excitement, laughter, sorrow, sighs
and I revel to know all that exists
within your smiling eyes
