Don’t look back over your shoulder.
Let the memories fill you with laughter.
Tears though.
At first a trickle,
Glistening as they forge their own path
Across your cheeks,
Which burn with emotion.
You stop.
As though that invisible hand is against your chest
Temptation beckons
Oh it feels warm
And so inviting.

Reluctantly almost,
You take one more step
Every sinew screaming
Racked with emotion almost uncontrollable
You pass through the terror
Into a new world

  1. A powerful poem which may be interpreted differently by each reader depending upon the life experiences which determine each individual perception. The subtle reality that connects all humanity is loss and the courage it takes to get through the pain in order to come out on the other side.
